Born and raised in Houston, Texas, her childhood was filled with dreams of becoming a conventional MD. After experiencing certain medical shadowing and volunteering experiences meant to boost up her medical school application, she recognized the importance of the mind-body connection and a different approach to medicine. Kirstin obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University and has a background working for AmeriCorps and with adolescents with substance use disorders. Throughout her time at Bastyr, Kirstin worked for the University as a TA and in outreach, as well as interning for a nonprofit serving at-risk youth. She’s passionate about chronic fatigue, mental illness, and autoimmune disorders. She is eager to help empower patients on their healthcare journey and find the root cause of their disease. Kirstin will be practicing naturopathic medicine and working as a therapist in the San Diego area following licensure.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”48288″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]\nJorge Luis Morales (NUHS)\nJorge Luis Morales is a 3rd-year dual-doctorate student in naturopathic and chiropractic medicine at the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in the Chicago suburbs of Lombard, Illinois. He has served in NUHS Student Council leadership as Vice-Chair (2022-23) and Treasurer (2023-24), and President of the Naturopathic Medical Student Association (NMSA) Chicago Chapter. Additionally, he has spent time as a teaching assistant for Cellular Physiology, and Cardiorespiratory-Renal Physiology. While serving as a minister in New Mexico in 2020, Jorge Luis experienced many health problems, which led him to find a naturopathic doctor who helped his health and impacted his life. It was then in 2020 when Jorge decided to make the change and begin to prepare his way to get into naturopathic medical school. Some of his hobbies are reading, drawing, studying theology, playing with his dog, and traveling with his wife. He also enjoys writing and creating content to educate the community. You can find some of his content in his Instagram profile: @anaturopathicstudent, or his recently created podcast (anaturopathicstudent) that is launching its first episode during the month of July.\nBorn and raised in the west side of Puerto Rico, in 2013, he decided to go to Texas to begin learning a new language for a year. However, his plans changed after the first year, and he chose to stay in the USA. Jorge obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Theology with a minor specialization in Biblical Languages from Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas. He served as a minister for a district of four churches in New Mexico (2017-2020), where he learned through his experience the importance of healing physically and spiritually. One thing after the other led Jorge to the path he is on now.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”48289″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]\nAndrea Sulyok (CCNM)\nAndrea Sulyok is a 3rd year student at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Canada. Prior to CCNM, Andrea studied at the University of Guelph for Biomedical Science and Toxicology. Throughout this time, she worked two years as a microbiologist at a food safety company before deciding that she wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. While focused on applying to pharmacy school, she was seeing an ND for her own health, and she found herself drawn to naturopathic medicine. This practice of medicine resonated with her because of its focus on preventive measures and identifying the cause of the illness rather than just treating the symptoms with prescriptions. She also chose naturopathic medicine because the practice supports allowing the body to heal itself with the right natural adjustments and improvements. While pursuing her ND education, she was a wellness representative and administrative assistant at various clinics downtown and worked directly with NDs specializing in metabolic health and complex pain management cases. Andrea is passionate about the mind-body connection and hopes to treat both mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety as well as digestive health and autoimmune conditions.\nAndrea served as chapter president of NMSA during her second year at CCNM and is actively participating in and contributing to the school community. Outside of school, she has been lifeguarding and swim coaching for ten years for the City of Toronto. She enjoys running, hiking with her dogs, traveling, healthy cooking, and spending time with friends and family.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]\n
