As the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges (AANMC), we are excited to promote the theme “Naturopathic Medicine: Rooted in Whole Person Health” during this year’s Naturopathic Medicine Week from May 14th to the 20th, 2023. This year’s theme highlights how naturopathic medicine focuses on treating Whole Person Health. Every symptom has a root cause, and naturopathic doctors are committed to identifying and treating these root causes in order to promote a whole-person approach to healthcare.
If you are interested in naturopathic medicine and want to learn more, follow these simple steps:
1. Learn the Basics
Find out if being an ND is right for you by doing a little research on naturopathic medicine and getting in touch with an AANMC school near you. The schools can share a list of alumni in your area, so you can connect with folks in your community, learn what they are doing with their naturopathic medicine degrees and what their clinical experience has been like.
2. Determine Which Programs You are Interested in
Think about what interests you in terms of research, clinical practice, and career goals, and start thinking about the academic programs that may be right for you. Check out the different AANMC schools to find which specific programs they offer, including dual degree options. Look into what types of clinical and research experience would be available to you at each campus and make a list of the schools you are considering.
3. Get Details on Different Schools
Once you’ve narrowed down the program curriculum and academic research you’re interested in, look into the details of each school that offers these opportunities, including location and what student life at the campus is like. Imagine what it would be like to study at each institution you are considering, and think about how that would fit with your life and career goals. Is there a school that is near where you already live? Is there one in a city you’ve always wanted to live in? Location can be one of many factors when choosing where you want to study.

On June 20th, 2023, we are proud to present our online Ask an ND Alumni Panel as part of our Virtual Naturopathic Medical College Fair Series. Join us for a lively discussion with alumni from AANMC member schools who will share their stories, insights, and tips on how to succeed in naturopathic medicine after graduation.
