Join Us as an Ambassador!

This video covers alls the basics– who we are, ambassador and content expectations, benefits for you, professionalism, and next steps.

We’re calling ND students who love to capture and share their experiences to join us as an Ambassador. Because of you, others will take the first step and explore a career in naturopathic medicine!

As an AANMC Social Media Ambassador, you will learn more about social media marketing to use in your future career and practice a skill that you can add to your resume for residency applications and beyond!

1. Plan Your Content

  • Know Your Message: Clearly define the purpose of your video. What are you trying to say to future ND students? Whether it’s educational or inspirational, your message should be concise and focused. To get you started, see below for content ideas.
  • Script or Outline: It can be helpful to write a script or outline the key points or video shots that you want to cover. This ensures you stay on track and cover all necessary information without rambling or forgetting anything you wanted to add.

2. Set the Scene

  • Location: Choose a clean, well-lit, and quiet location to film. Avoid cluttered backgrounds and excessive noise.
  • Lighting: Natural light is best, but if filming indoors, use additional lighting to ensure your face is well-lit and visible.
  • Camera: Use a smartphone or good quality camera. Ensure the lens is clean and the camera is stable (use a tripod if needed).
  • Orientation: Film in vertical orientation as it’s more suited for Instagram and TikTok.
  • Audio: Clear audio is crucial if you’re speaking. Use a microphone if available, and minimize background noise. If using trending audio, please be sure that it is appropriate (i.e. no profanity, sexual innuendo, etc.).
  • Length: Videos should be short and to the point. Videos should be no longer than 90 seconds.

3. When Filming:

  • Energy and Enthusiasm: Be energetic and enthusiastic! Your passion will engage students and keep their attention.
  • Eye Contact: If speaking directly to the viewer, look directly at the camera to create a connection with your audience.

What Won’t Be Posted:

  • Promoting any specific supplement brands, books, services, or other sellables
  • Disparaging or derogatory messaging towards people, other professions, etc.
  • Obvious unprofessional appearance – no sexualizing or nudity, etc.

You are not limited to these, but here are just a few ideas to get you started!

  • Day in the life of an ND student: Showcase a typical day at school. Highlight classes, study sessions, practical training, and any unique activities that make your day special and your school unique.
  • Patient simulation: What are you learning in class that you’re excited to share? Show how you practice clinical skills (ask a friend to be your “patient”)!
  • Case study: What’s a case that you’re learning about in class and how would an ND go about treating that patient?
  • Study hacks: Share your favorite study tips, time-management strategies, and productivity hacks that have helped you succeed in your medical studies.
  • Student perspectives from underrepresented backgrounds: Share inspiring stories of students who overcame challenges or unique paths to get into medical school.
  • Health and wellness: Highlight the importance of self-care, mental health, and wellness in the field of naturopathic medicine. Share your own self-care routines and stress-relief strategies, or talk about how you balance school and life!
  • Study breaks: Share fun ways that you and your fellow students take breaks during intense study sessions. It could be quick exercises, mindfulness techniques, or even a short dance break.
  • School interview tips: Provide tips on how to prepare for ND school interviews, from what to wear to common questions and etiquette.
  • Research highlights: What research is currently being done on campus? Talk about any project you’re involved in.
  • Student life: What do you and your classmates do for fun? Are there on-campus activities that your school offers? Are you in any clubs?
  • Short campus tours: Take prospective students on a virtual tour of your school. Highlight important spots like the library, labs, lecture halls, and any beautiful outdoor areas or places that you go to de-stress!
  • Community involvement: Showcase students’ involvement in community service, volunteering, or outreach programs.
  • Funny moments: Share relatable and humorous moments that all ND/medical students experience, like tea/coffee addiction, crazy sleep schedules, thinking you’re diagnosed with every disease you learn about, etc.
