Domestic violence shelter expresses gratitude to Sonoran University

The Sonoran University of Health Sciences (Sonoran University) has an extended site clinic at the Sojourner Center, the largest domestic violence shelter the United States. There, faculty-supervised Sonoran University students treat patients for a variety of conditions, including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse. In October the Sojourner Center presented Sonoran University with the Hope Honors award for actively supporting the center’s mission, and named October 20, 2011, as “Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine Day.” READ MORE >>

Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine – Boucher Campus opens natural health store

The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine – Boucher Campus (CCNM – Boucher Campus) is excited to announce the opening of its first retail outlet, Boucher Naturals. Currently under construction, the store will feature a fully stocked natural dispensary and campus bookstore with a comprehensive range of natural health products. UBCNM unveils new herbarium

Faculty member Dr. Jody Noe recently received funding to conduct research in ethnobotany, the study of the plant lore of indigenous cultures. The grant provided for the addition of an herbarium to the botanical medicine lab at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine (UBCNM), where Dr. Noe is working with to identify an unknown species of milkweed used by Cherokee healers in Oklahoma to treat cancer, HIV and other chronic diseases.  READ MORE >>

Bastyr researcher investigates sauna treatment to sweat out toxins

Bastyr University faculty researcher Jason Allen and students are launching a first-of-its-kind study to measure how heat treatments can help cleanse the body of toxic chemicals, a need that conventional medicine has not yet satisfactorily addressed. READ MORE >>

AANP honors NUHS faculty member with prestigious Vis Award

The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) recently honored Dr. Louise Edwards, a faculty member at the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS), with its prestigious Vis Award. Developed in remembrance of Bastyr University co-founder Dr. Bill Mitchell, this award is granted to individuals whose work and spirit best demonstrate “Vis” — the Latin-derived profession’s term for the healing power of nature. READ MORE >>
