Bastyr University Celebrates Opening of San Diego Campus

Bastyr University, founded in Seattle, Wash., in 1978, celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new San Diego, Calif., campus on September 14, 2012.

bastyr-california-facultyThe official ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies were attended by approximately 400 students, alumni and friends of Bastyr University, as well as strong supporters from the local medical, academic, and political communities.

Event speakers included Bastyr University President Daniel K. Church, PhD; Bastyr University California Vice President Moira Fitzpatrick, PhD, ND, FICPP, CHT; Mimi Guarneri, MD, director of the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine; and Basytr University founders Les Griffith, ND, Joseph E. Pizzorno, Jr., ND, and Sheila Quinn.

There are 51 students enrolled in the inaugural Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine class. Faculty members (pictured from left to right) include Young Cho, PhD, Tabatha Parker, ND, Monique Mazza, ND, Jessica Dominguez Rieg, PhD, Heidi Wittmann, ND, and Nan Lin, MD, PhD.

Bastyr University is California’s only accredited higher education institution for naturopathic medicine.
